But there’s a different between Mako saying “hey Korra, why are you being so harsh on Hiroshi” and “KORRA STOP NOW OTHERWISE WE AINT FRIENDS”. He didn’t have to give her an ultimatum on their friendship, or even frame it in the context that she was only going after Hiroshi because she was jealous.
I don’t think I’m being overly harsh. This isn’t just a one episode thing, Mako has been consistently dodgy for me most episodes. And if anything, his sweetness at the end of the episode compounded for me how superficial his friendship is with Korra. As soon as she’s right he’s back to being lovely to her. I just think if Mako actually thought of Korra as a real friend, then he should have given her more credit in the beginning.
Maybe with them living in the same place all of them can become better friends. That’s why I’m hoping for.
No, I think Asami exonerated herself completely in that episode. Hiroshi Sato had everyone unconscious and about to be transported to Amon, they wouldn’t have needed a “mole” or whatever people are calling Asami.
This is not to say she won’t be conflicted in later episodes. I’m sure she will feel remorse and guilt over hurting her father, but that doesn’t make her a spy. That makes her a human being. But one that is firmly against Amon’s ideals. I’m glad Asami has joined team Avatar, she’ll be able to show a non-benders point of view on the war and help Korra figure out how to defeat Amon.

I’m sorry but Mako continues to disappoint and frustrate me. He was so egotistical this episode in thinking that Korra was on pursuing her investigation because of her “jealousy” of his and Asami’s relationship. But to compound matters he had the nerve to say that their friendship would be over if she didn’t drop her duties for him.
I’m sorry, this is the girl that came into your team when you lost a player. That put her life in danger and helped rescue your brother. That saved your pro-bending team numerous times and offered you a place to live. Korra has done so much for him, but the second they disagree strongly on something, he gives her an ultimatum.
Not cool Mako, not cool.

to be fair, it was six against one by that point. all the others guys had been beaten already. and in the previous episode it was a surprise attack that got him.
but i agree, tenzin should kick some ass soon. korra and co are getting beaten so much this series.
He also makes a great unconscious puppet.
Posted this in another speculation post, but I wanted the focus to be on the wire for this one. It could purely be coincidence, but it’s just fun to theorize and debate.
far fetch maybe?
How…how do you even notice this?
1) Mad props for noticing this. That is ridiculous attention to detail.
2) Very interesting, and if Future Industries does turn out to be involved that’s a really nice touch they’ve added there,
3) BUT, keep in mind it’s a wire. All buildings have them, maybe electricity is carried in red wires in Republic City and that’s why they are so prevalent.
This was the Red Wire Theory. Turns out it was only sort of half correct as the base was no where near Future Industries factories. But it still got at the fact Hiroshi was involved.
In other news, my prediction about their being mechs in Avatar was correct! Not sure how much I like the idea, but I do enjoy being right!
okay i enjoyed this episode, but it also felt incredibly fast and slightly disjointed in bits. i like how the plot is going, but it just felt a bit… forced? i think it’s cause they went to so many different places and they tried to fit a whole police investigation into 20 minutes that all just felt a bit rushed.
i still really enjoyed it, just the pacing is so fast!
oh, and mako you can go suck a fuck. seriously.
that red wire theory was correct! MASSIVE props to whoever spotted that.
aw yeah, called it. hiroshi sato got something to explain.
also in other news, asami is a badass. girl has already had like 5 lines of dialogue this episode, that’s gotta be a record.
