Sincerely doubt it. Although the ironic thing is that Gene Yang in a recent ASN interview said that, and I quote:

“Mai is a great character. I loved her development in the original series.”

Now remember peeps, Mai is the characters that got about 3 panels in part 1, and then got written out in part 2. I’d be worried to know what happened to a character he dislikes…
