Imagine the finale of season 2.
Imagine all the Zuko hate.
Like. Mako hate would not even compare.JUST REMEMBER THAT, YOU GUYS. MAKO’S MISTAKES DO NOT EVEN COMPARE.
oh sweet lord
To be honest, I was there and it’s not really the same situation at all. Once the shock died down a lot of people realized that Zuko had to go through this before he could go ‘good’. The biggest and most important difference is that while Zuko’s actions in the show were clearly shown to be ‘bad’, Mako is far more ambiguous.
We’re supposed to support Mako while he’s riding around being a white knight. Feel happy when him and Korra are having their ~moments~ . It wasn’t like that for Zuko. The show knew he had to do bad before he could do good. With Mako no-one is sure whether he is going to get called up on half the shit he’s done.
The OP is right in saying that Mako’s mistakes don’t compare, but neither do the situations. The show and the fans knew Zuko had done bad, where as with Mako the response from the production team seems to be ~he’s just a teenager~ and thus all this stuff is perfectly normal and acceptable. That’s where the hate is coming from, a lot of fans don’t like the shit Mako is pulling and feel he is getting away with it.
literally clawing my eyes out right now
Jubilant Odin’s tricycle, I’m glad that isn’t a reality.
