Katara taught Korra Waterbending!
There is a United Republic council and Tenzin is the representative for the Air Nation. Tenzin finds it hard to teach Korra because “they are complete opposites: whereas she is unorthodox, impatient, and forceful, he is traditional, patient, and gentle.”
Amon is a non-bender and his second in command is called The Lieutenant who wields those electrified poles.
Asami Sato is a non-bender but has been trained in self-defense and she loves watching pro-bending.
