While I do believe they kissed in CoTL, it wasn’t really a ~proper~ kiss. It just didn’t have the same emotional resonance. They both could sorta brush it off as an action that was totally dependent on external circumstances. 

The invasion kiss on the other hand was a massive difference. It was a confession on Aang’s part. That’s why when they are talking about it later Aang only mentions the invasion, CoTL wasn’t a confession.
